Aim
To provide clear guidance and support for students through their qualification, while on placement.
Objective
To ensure students, are clear regarding nursery expectations.
To ensure good practice regarding the safety and welfare of children.
To ensure students feel supported.
Guidelines
Trained staff must always supervise students.
The H.O.N. /Team Leader should be approached immediately, if for any reason, staff have cause to be concerned about the students’ performance or if it appears that a Student in final placement is unlikely to achieve all of the necessary requirements.
The day-to-day training is the responsibility of the designated Mentor who will seek any support required from the H.O.N /Team Leader as and when necessary and appropriate.
The Mentor and Student should meet regularly to discuss progress and ensure the students work is up to date.
The Mentor and all staff must endeavour to show the expected standard of practice by being a good role model.
The Team Leader will meet once a term with all students to discuss their progress and areas which they require further support.
Success Criteria
Students receive the correct support while undertaking their qualification and have opportunities to discuss their progress.
All students know what is expected of them.
